How to Select a Box Spring
A box spring is the foundation of a bed. It's basically a wooden frame that contains springs and is covered with cloth. A box spring fits underneath a mattress to add support and height. If you choose the wrong one, you may suddenly find that your bed isn't as comfortable as it used to be. That's why it's important to choose the right box spring. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Measure your bed frame or existing mattress to determine the size of box spring you need. For the mattress and the spring to fit together properly, both pieces must be the same size (i.e., twin, long twin, full, queen, king, California king).
-
2
Determine how thick you want the box spring to be. You may choose a tall 9-inch spring or a lower 5-inch model, according to Overstock. The thickness depends on how much height you want your bed to have. More height also means more support.

Look for a box spring that has special features, according to Overstock. For example, if you suffer from allergies, select a spring that has a cover that blocks allergens.

While the height of the box spring you choose depends on your personal comfort level, keep in mind that thinner springs are easier to move for cleaning purposes and for taking them to different levels of your home.
