Pomegranate fruit is also known as Granada or Chinese apple, and thrives in hot climates. Pomegranate has achieved recent popularity because of the abundance of antioxidants found in the fruit. Pomegranates have also been known to lower cholesterol and prevent heart disease. Pomegranates products include jams, wines, jellies, syrups and juices. Stains from the juice of a Pomegranate are difficult to remove due to the fruit's dark red color. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • Baking soda
  • Microwave-safe bowl
  • Microwave or tea kettle
  • Dish detergent
  • White vinegar
  • Clean white cloths

Instructions

  1. Clothes

    • 1

      Boil ¾ cup of water to a boil, either in a microwave safe bowl in the microwave or in a teakettle on the stove. Add 1 tsp. baking soda to the boiling water and mix well.

      Soak the stained garment in the baking soda solution for 15 minutes. Rinse well with cold water.

      Launder the garment as usual. Do not place the garment in the dryer until you are certain the stain is removed, as the heat will permanently set the stain.

    Carpet

    • 4

      Add 1 tsp. dish detergent to 2 cups cold water. Wet a clean white cloth in the solution and dab the stain until it is gone. If the stain remains, proceed to step 2.

      Pour a small amount of white vinegar on a clean white cloth and dab the stain until it is completely gone.

    • 6

      Rinse the carpet by wetting a clean white cloth with cold water and blotting the treated area.

Tips & Warnings

  • Treat pomegranate stains as soon as possible.

  • You may need to repeat the methods several times to get the stains out.
