Bath & Body Crafts: How to Make Shampoo?
Shampoo is essential to maintaining healthy, strong hair and can restore shine and luster to dull locks. Homemade shampoos are not only easy to make, they are good for your hair as they do not contain any unnecessary ingredients or preservatives. Making your own shampoo is also inexpensive and eco-friendly, and allows you to formulate your shampoo for your specific hair type. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- 1 cup distilled water
- 1 cup natural herbal shampoo
- 30 drops fragrant essential oil
- 30 drops rosemary oil
- Plastic shampoo bottles
- 4 ounces castile soap flakes
- 1 quart water
- 1/4 cup almond oil
- 12 drops eucalyptus essential oil
- 12 drops cypress essential oil
- 12 drops sage essential oil
- 3 ounces liquid castile soap

Recipe for Normal Hair

Pour one cup of distilled water into a cooking pot and bring it to a rolling boil on the stove top. Remove the pot from heat and pour in one cup of herbal shampoo. Stir the mixture until the shampoo is thoroughly dissolved into the distilled water.

Allow the water and shampoo mixture to cool to room temperature. Carefully add in 30 drops of fragrant essential oil and 30 drops of rosemary oil. Any fragrant oil of your choice can be used for this recipe. Use a rubber spatula or spoon to stir the oils into the mixture so that they are evenly distributed.

Pour the shampoo mixture into a plastic shampoo bottle.
Recipe for Dry Hair

Pour one quart of water into a pot and bring it to a rolling boil on the stove top. Remove the pot from heat and mix in four ounces of castile soap flakes. Stir the mixture until the soap flakes are completely dissolved.

Stir 1/4 cup of almond oil into the mixture.

Pour the shampoo mixture into a plastic shampoo bottle.
Recipe for Oily Hair

Mix together 12 drops eucalyptus essential oil, 12 drops of cypress essential oil and 12 drops of sage essential oil in a plastic bowl.

Add 3 ounces of liquid castile soap to the mixture and stir until all of the ingredients are equally distributed.

Pour the mixture into a plastic shampoo bottle.
