Sit in the driver's seat of your 1998 Nissan Pathfinder. Make sure that all the vehicle's doors are closed and then press the "Lock/Unlock" button on the control panel on the driver's side door.

Access the Pathfinder's programming mode by inserting and removing your key from the ignition cylinder six times in rapid succession. Wait for the vehicle's hazard lights to flash, indicating that you have successfully entered the programming mode.

Insert the Pathfinder's key into the ignition cylinder. Turn the key to the "ACC" position.
