How to Block Non-Working Hours in Outlook Calendar

Outlook's built in calendar helps you organize your schedule. You can switch between several different calendar layouts to view your appointments, events, and working hours. You have the option to set what type of event or appointment you're creating for each calendar entry you create.

Instructions

1. Launch Outlook and then click on the "Calendar" heading on the left side of the program. If you have more than one calendar, select the calendar you wish to work with from the list below the "My Calendars" heading.

2. Click on the "Day" button at the top of Outlook to switch the calendar to it's "Day" layout.

3. Click on the time slot, where you'd like your block to begin, on the calendar. Drag the cursor down to the slot where your non working hours will end. Right-click on the calendar and then select the "New Appointment" option from the pop-up menu that appears.

4. Click on the drop-down menu labeled "Show Time" in when the New Appointment menu appears. Select either the "Free" or "Out of Office" from the drop-down menu.

5. Click on the "Start" and "End" time boxes to select a date for your non-working hours.

6. Click on the "Save And Close" option at the top of the menu.
