How to Network the Media Center Extender With a Media Center Computer Wirelessly

A media extender in Windows media center is a device in which your computer communicates with software.

A "media extender" in Windows Media Center is a device that your computer will be communicating with via the Windows Media Center software. This can be a video game console like an Xbox 360 or even a networked Blu-ray player. The purpose of this is to allow you to stream content back and forth between the two devices. Setting up a media extender wirelessly can be done natively using the Windows Media Center software.

Instructions

1. Turn on the device that you are using as a Windows Media Center extender.

2. Open Windows Media Center from your computer's "Start" menu.

3. Click "Tasks". From this window, click "Add Extender". A box will appear in Windows Media Center waiting for you to enter a passcode.

4. Access your extender's main menu and select the "Windows Media Center" option. This will give you the passcode you need to insert into the box from "Step 3".

5. Insert your Windows Media Center passcode into the box in Windows Media Center and click "OK". Your extender is now properly set up in Windows Media Center.
