Homemade Halloween Costumes for Mom & Baby
Halloween is coming up and you're not sure how to dress yourself or your baby. Make this costume dilemma easier and dress up your baby in a theme similar to yours. Instead of buying a new costume, make one yourself by using a few craft items, clothing from the second-hand store and a glue gun. There are no exact rules on how to make a costume for you and your baby, but there are some ideas and guidelines to follow.

Instructions
-
Farmer and Cow
-
1
Dress in overalls, a plaid shirt and a straw hat. You can even put dirt on your face.
-
2
Buy a white outfit that will fit your baby.
-
-
3
Cut out shapes from black felt to look like cow spots. Take a hot glue gun and glue the felt pieces onto the white outfit to form a cow pattern.
-
4
Get a small, white headband for your baby. Cut out two ear shapes with white felt and glue black felt spots to them. Hot-glue the ears to the headband to look like cow ears.
Dorothy and Toto
-
5
Go to a second-hand store and purchase a light blue dress like Dorothy wears in "The Wizard of Oz." Braid your hair in two braids and wear a pair of white tights.
-
6
Find a pair of red ballet flats and cover them with spray adhesive. Then, roll the shoes in red glitter to match the ruby slippers from the movie.
-
7
Dress your baby in brown clothing with long sleeves. Place brown mittens and socks on the baby.
-
8
Make dog ears by cutting out two pieces of brown felt in the shape of ears. Then attach these to a brown headband with hot glue.
Spider and Web
-
9
Buy your baby a black sweatshirt and sweatpants and black socks. Purchase three pairs of men's long black dress socks for the spider's legs. You want each of the spider's legs to be as long as the baby's legs. Buy yourself a white shirt and a long white skirt.
-
10
Stuff each men's sock with cotton batting or stuffing.
-
11
Safety-pin these "legs" to the baby's sweatshirt in a spider-leg pattern.
-
12
Take a permanent marker and draw a web design on the white skirt and shirt.
Flowers
-
13
Wear brown pants and a green shirt and dress your baby in the same colors.
-
14
Cut out petals from colored card stock or constuction paper, to fit around your baby's head.
-
15
Glue these petals to a headband that goes all the way around your baby's head.
-
16
Follow the same instructions and make larger flower petals for your head.
