How to Rotate an Image in Open Office

OpenOffice contains a free graphic design program called "OpenOffice Draw" that you can use to create new images or edit existing images. When editing an image, you may want to rotate the image so it slants to the side or turns completely upside down. Using OpenOffice Draw, you can rotate an entire image or specific objects within the image.

      Open an image within OpenOffice Draw by clicking "Open" in the File menu, finding the image file and double-clicking on the file name. You can also create a new image by clicking "New" in the File menu and then selecting "Drawing."

      Edit the image by changing, adding or removing textual or graphical objects.

      Click on an object within the image that you want to rotate. For example, if you want to rotate a rectangle that you inserted into the image, click somewhere within the rectangle. If you want to rotate the whole image, press "CTRL + A" to select the entire image.

      Press the "Rotate" button located in the Modify menu. Small red dots will appear around the edges of the selected object or around the entire image if you clicked "CTRL + A."

      Move your mouse onto one of the corner red dots until the cursor looks like a semicircle with arrows at both ends.

      Rotate the object by moving the cursor in the direction you want to rotate. As you move your mouse, the object will rotate accordingly. Continue rotating the image until you are satisfied with the results.

  • You can open most standard image file types in OpenOffice Draw such as BMP, PNG and JPEG.
