How to Renew an English Passport in New Hampshire
The British Embassy in Washington makes it easy to renew your U.K. passport while you're in the United States. From New Hampshire, you'll need to mail your passport application to the Washington, D.C. embassy for approval. This process can take up to four weeks, so apply early if you need your renewed passport for travel. The British Embassy will send you a new passport, along with your previous passport that they will deem no longer valid. Fortunately, the renewal process is even simpler than obtaining a new passport.
Things You'll Need
- Passport application
- 2 new passport photos
- Previous passport
- Passport fee (in U.S. dollars)

1
Download and print a passport application from the British Embassy's website. Complete the application. Make sure you include your email address and initial at the bottom right-hand corner of each page.
-
2
Have a new passport photo taken and make two copies of it. An old one is not valid, as the photo cannot be more than one month old when you apply. The British Embassy suggests visiting CVS or Walgreen for inexpensive passport photos. In the photo, you must be facing the camera with your mouth closed and nothing obstructing your face.

"I certify that this is a true likeness of [Mr., Mrs., Miss., Ms. or other title followed by your full name]"
Have them sign and date at the bottom.
