How to Make Big Emoticons

How to Make Big Emoticons thumbnail
You can change the size of emoticons in most chat rooms, instant messengers and forums.

Emoticons give you the opportunity to express yourself in a variety of images, such as smiley faces, sad faces, cheerful faces and angry faces. Nearly all instant messengers, chat rooms and forums support emoticons. Many chat rooms and instant messengers allow for the use of enlarged emoticons simply by changing the text size. Unfortunately, most forums do not, so you must use an alternate method when posting larger emoticons on forums.

Instructions

  1. Making Bigger Emoticons in Chat Rooms and Instant Messengers

    • 1

Open the desired chat room or instant messenger you wish to use the larger emoticons in. Log in with your username and password, if necessary.

    • 2

Begin a new instant message to one of your contacts, if you're using an instant messenger, or click the chat box if you're in a chat room.

    • 3

Locate the "Text size" option. Most chat rooms and instant messengers include an option to change the size of your text. For example, click on the "T" above the text area to access the text options in Yahoo Instant Messenger. Insert the emoticon after you have changed the text size and press "Send."

    Making Bigger Emoticons in Forums

    • 4

Type "Emoticons" in the search engine of your choice. Browse through large and animated emoticons on the internet. There are many websites dedicated solely to emoticons of all kinds. Right-click on the image of an emoticon you wish to post to the forum and click "Copy image URL."

    • 5

Go to the forum where you wish to use the larger emoticons. Log in with your username and password, if necessary.

    • 6

Begin either a new thread or add to an already existing thread by creating a new post. Click the "Img" button above the text area. "[Img][/img]" will appear in the text area. Press "Ctrl" and "V" at the same time to paste the emoticon image URL in between the two "img" brackets. Click "Submit" to create the new post with the enlarged emoticon.

Tips & Warnings

  • Some chat rooms and instant messengers have different ways of changing the text size and require you to input the emoticon first and change the text size second. For example, enter the desired emoticon in an AIM instant message, highlight it, right-click and select "Font" to change the size of the emoticon. Consult the help section of your chat room or instant messenger for information about changing the text size.
