How to Replace a 2002 Honda Keyless Remote

The 2002 Honda keyless remote, or key fob, locks and unlocks your car doors and hatch, if equipped. Prices for the remote vary, expect to pay anywhere from $60 to almost $200 for replacement as of September 2010. Price depends on your Honda model and its options, such as dual power sliding doors. The only way to ensure you are receiving a true Honda remote is to purchase from the dealership. However, there are aftermarket fobs you can purchase cheaper from Internet providers.

Instructions

1. Go to a Honda dealership's service department with every remote you have for your Honda. You may want to make an appointment to have the keys programmed, as the Honda Tech Info website states that you'll have to have the dealer program the fobs.

2. Give the service adviser all remotes for your Honda. Each has to be reprogrammed because of the vehicle's security system.

3. Pay the adviser. Check to make sure that all of the remotes work before you leave.
