Save incoming faxes to a specified email address with your fax server.

A fax server is a software set that runs on a server which is equipped with one or several cable modems allowing it to send and receive faxes over an IP network. It can send or receive documents, convert them to faxes, and then transmit them to their designated recipients. It can also receive fax calls and store them, or send them to the addressees. Configuring a fax server requires a few steps.

Instructions

  1. Install Fax Server Role

      Click your "Start" pane and select "Server Manager." Choose "Roles", and click on "Add Roles."

      Check the box next to "Fax Server" on the "Select Server Roles" page. Select "Add Required Role Services" and click "Next."

      Click on "Add" in the "Select Fax Users" pane. Enter the domain and user names for all of the users you wish to have access to the fax server. Click "Next."

      Click either "Only Routing Assistants Can Access the Fax Server Inbox" to allow only routing assistants access to all faxes received, or "All Users Can Access the Fax Server Inbox." If you choose the "Routing Assistants" option, click "Add" on the "Routing Assistants" pane to enter the user name and domain name of the users allowed to access the fax server inbox, then, click on "Next."

      Complete the prompts the fax server installation wizard until you reach the "Confirm Selections" pane. Verify your choices and hit "Install." Allow the fax server role to complete installation and view the results on the "Installation Results" pane.

    Configure Incoming Routing

      Click on "Start" and then click "Server Manager." Choose "Roles" and double-click "Fax Server."

      Double-click "Fax", then double-click "Devices and Providers" and double-click "Devices." Select "Incoming Methods."

      Configure "Store in Folder" by selecting the option of the same name. Enter either the Universal Naming Path or hit "Browse" to choose a location. Configure "Route Through E-mail." Hit the "E-mail" pane. Type the email address you wish to route your faxes through. Configure the "Print" method. Hit "Print" and enter the location of your printer. After configuring each to suit your requirements, right-click each method under the "Details" tab and check the boxes next to "Enable" to enable your choice, or "Disable."
