How to Make a Style Statement
A style statement is the personal statement that determines the way that you decorate your home or the fashion that you choose to wear. It is the way you outwardly express your inner essence. To truly know how to make a style statement about yourself, you must first know yourself; what you want and what you don't. Don't just grab onto every trend that comes around. Choosing to carry the same leopard print purse with the glitzy peace sign because everyone else is carrying it, for example, isn't making a style statement. Don't give into trends; be yourself. Does this Spark an idea?

Your fashion style statement should make you feel comfortable. Write down colors and fabrics that you feel comfortable wearing under a column titled "Yes." Write a list of colors or fabrics that you feel uncomfortable wearing under a column heading titled "No." Place this list in your wallet or purse to keep with you. When you shop for clothes, stick to this list and don't allow yourself to budge from it. Many times clothing items are purchased because they are a good buy, but are never worn due to their color or fabric in consistency with the buyer's personality.

Fashion style statements allow the true you to be the focus. Purchase accessories, such as scarves, belts, vests and hats only if you truly love them and feel that they are truly "you." If you feel they cause confusion in you or with an outfit, leave it. Style statements are about reflecting your style, not items. You want people to say, "Here comes Tammy," not, "Here comes Tammy's vest, scarf and belt mishap." If you don't feel comfortable with any accessories, that's fine; simplicity is sometimes best and can be a style statement all to itself.
