How Do I Configure a Linksys WRT160N Modem to an Axis 207 Wireless Camera?

The Axis 207 wireless camera allows you to view a live feed from the camera over the Internet. The camera operates off a wireless network that is set up by a wireless router such as the WRT160N from Linksys. In order for the router to provide Internet over the wireless network, though, the router must be connected to a broadband modem, such as a DSL or cable modem.

Instructions

1. Connect a phone line from the wall jack to the back of the broadband modem for DSL. Connect a coaxial line instead of the phone line for cable modem.

2. Connect an Ethernet cable from the broadband modem to the WAN port on the Linksys router.

3. Connect an Ethernet cable from the computer to one of the LAN ports on the back of the router.

4. Open a Web browser and go to "192.168.1.1," then leave the user name blank and enter "admin" as the password. Click "OK."

5. Click "Wireless" and change the SSID to whatever you want your wireless network name to be.

6. Click "Wireless Security," then select a wireless security type and enter a wireless security key in the box next to "passphrase." Click "Save Changes."

1. Connect an Ethernet cable from one of the LAN ports on the router to the Axis 207 camera.

2. Insert the Installation CD and start the AXIS IP Utility.

3. Double-click on the camera from the list of devices found by the AXIS IP utility. The camera utility will open in a new browser window.

4. Enter an admin password for the camera utility, then type it again to confirm it and click "OK."

5. Click on "Setup" in the upper right corner of the utility, then click "System Options." CLick on "Network," then "Wireless."

6. Enter the SSID of the wireless network you configured in Section 1 in the box next to "SSID."

7. Select "Master" next to "Network Type," then select your wireless security type and enter the wireless security key. Save the settings and exit the camera utility.

8. Disconnect the camera and mount it to the location where you want to put it.
