Beeswax Collage Instructions
You can use pure beeswax to cover a mixed-media collage, giving the collage an aged and old-fashioned look. Choose personal photographs or cut images and text from magazines to create your collage. With a few simple tips and techniques, you can give your collage a vintage look quickly and easily at home.
Things You'll Need
- Newspapers
- Card stock
- Scissors
- Magazines and photos
- 1 pound beeswax
- Double boiler
- Coffee can
- Paintbrush
- Iron

Lay newspapers down on a tabletop to keep the beeswax off the table surface.

Place beeswax into an empty, clean coffee can.

Place the coffee can into the top of a double boiler.

Fill the bottom of the double boiler halfway up with water.

Heat the double boiler over medium-high heat until the wax melts completely. Turn the heat to medium-low and keep the beeswax over the heat until you are ready to pour it onto the collage.

While the beeswax melts, cut out images from magazines or cut out personal photographs and drawings that you want to include in your collage.

Place a piece of card stock onto the newspapers.

Glue the cut-out pictures onto the card stock in a collage arrangement.

Using oven mitts, remove the coffee can from the boiler and pour beeswax over the entire card stock in a thin layer.

Use a soft paintbrush to spread the wax evenly.

Allow the beeswax to cool completely before displaying the collage. Once cool, you can place the collage into a frame to hang on your wall.

Tips & Warnings
If there are places on your collage that have too much beeswax, hold a heated iron 1/2 inch over the surface of the collage to melt a small section.
