How to Send Text Messages Online With AT&T Wireless

AT&T Wireless phones can receive emailed text messages

AT&T Wireless phone numbers that can receive text messages from other phones also can receive messages sent from email accounts. Using email to text these cell phones is free, regardless of the number of messages sent, which is convenient if your wireless plan doesn't include text messaging.

Instructions

1. Open a new message in your email account.

2. Type the AT&T Wireless number you're sending a message to in the "To" box. Use no punctuation or blank spaces when typing the number (for example,"3232323232").

3. Type "@txt.att.net" immediately after the phone number (for example, "[e-mail]").

4. Type your text message in the body of the email.

5. Click "Send."

Tips & Warnings

• Text messages sent online that contain more than 160 characters are delivered to the AT&T Wireless phone as multiple messages.
