How to Setup a Yamaha Home Theater With a Sony TV

Get your home theater on!

If you've got your Yamaha receiver up and running with some tunes and you want to get it hooked up to your Sony television, the most efficient way is to let your Yamaha receiver function as your home theater hub. These receivers will run video as well as audio, and running everything through it reduces wire clutter and time spent hooking things up.

Things You'll Need

• Yahama receiver with connected speakers
• HDMI cable

Instructions

1. Connect your devices to your Yahama receiver the same way you would connect them to your television. Each set of ports on the back of a Yamaha receiver is properly labeled ("DVD," "TV/SAT," etc.).

2. Locate the HDMI output on the back of your Yamaha receiver; this will be a rectangular port that's likely labeled "HDMI output" or "HDMI monitor." Insert one end of the HDMI cord into this port.

3. Locate the HDMI input on the back of your Sony television. This will be identical to the one on your Yamaha receiver. Connect the other end of the HDMI wire to this port.

4. Select your HDMI port as the video input on your Sony television by pushing "Input," "Source" or "TV/Video" on the remote control until you reach the proper HDMI port, which might be labeled "HDMI" or "HDMI 1."
