How to Watch TV on HDTV for Free
If you have just spent a lot of money on a brand new HDTV but don't want to shell out for cable or satellite television service, don't worry---there is a way to watch true high-definition programming on your TV for free. All you need is a digital antenna for your set. Most local stations broadcast their content free and over-the-air, allowing you to receive and watch this programming with an appropriate antenna.

Connect the coaxial antenna that is connected to your digital antenna to the coaxial TV tuner input on the back of your HDTV.

Place your digital antenna as high up in your room as you can to improve reception.

Turn on your HDTV.

Enter your HDTV's menu (press the "Menu" remote button) and select the "Scan" option. This will configure the remote to receive local digital and HDTV channels free over-the-air. When the scan is complete, you can watch television as normal.
