How to Use Norton Ghost 11
Norton Ghost 11 is a product from Symantec (the makers of Norton Antivirus) that allows you to make a duplicate copy (or backup) of the hard drive of a computer. You will then be able to restore the contents of your hard drive completely unaltered in the event that something goes wrong and your computer crashes or you need to buy a new one. Though it sounds complicated, luckily the "Norton Ghost Wizard" will walk you through the majority of the process.

1
Start Norton Ghost 11 using its "Start" menu execution icon.
-
2
Click on the button in the main Norton Ghost 11 window that says "Ghost Boot Wizard." Place a floppy disk in your computer's floppy disk drive. This will create a bootable floppy disk which will be used for the rest of the process. Once the bootable floppy disk is created, restart your computer.

-
3
Wait a minute or two for your computer to boot off of the Norton Ghost bootable floppy disk. Instead of seeing the Windows logo, you'll see the Norton Ghost logo. The Norton Ghost utility will then load.
-
4
Select the "Backup/Restore" option. This option will allow you to copy the contents of the computer you're working on to a different hard drive. Click the "Local" option. This means that the hard drive you want to copy is inside the computer you're using. Click "Partition," even if your computer has not been separated into different partitions (or "portions"). Click "To Image." This will create a single archive file that contains all of the data on the drive you're copying.
-
5
Select from the list on the screen the exact hard drive that you'd like to copy using Norton Ghost 11.
-
6
Choose from the list on the screen a location where you'd like the backup file you're about to create to be stored. This can be a CD-R or DVD-R drive (meaning the file will be burned to disc), an external hard drive, a flash drive or even the hard drive of another computer that your machine is connected to on a network. The choice is yours.
-
7
Name your backup file and click "Save." The backup file containing a complete archive of all of the data on your computer's hard drive will be created. You can now do with it as you please.
