How Do You Get Into the HP C7180 Service Mode?

The HP C7180 Photosmart printer is one of the All-In-One 7100 series HP inkjet printers. The HP C7180 is packed with features, with fax and scan capabilities, onboard wireless networking, a built-in Bluetooth device, and an SD card reader. The primary function of this top-of-the-line consumer printer is to print photos. However, text document and fax printing is also supported. Certain tasks must be performed in the device's Service Mode. To enter Service Mode, you must invoke the System Configuration Menu on the printer.

      Unplug the printer from the power outlet and let the printer sit for 30 seconds to discharge any remaining power.

      Plug the printer back into the outlet.

      Press the “ON” button while holding “CANCEL” and “OK.” This action will reset the printer.

      Press and hold the asterisk (“*”) key, and then press the hash mark (“#”) key. Release both keys at the same time. A message will appear prompting you to “Enter Special Key Combo.”

      Press the “1” key, and then release. Press the “2” key, and then release. Press the “3” key, and then release. The following message will appear: “Support R0631M.”

      Press the right-pointing arrow until the menu message reads “System Configuration Menu.” The HP Photosmart printer is now in Service Mode.
