How to Make Your Own Air Compressor Fill Station for Paintballs

A paintball gun that uses a compressed air tank to fire projectiles can become useless when the tank runs out. You can make your own air compressor fill station to recharge your paintball tank at a moment’s notice. You will need a compressed air tank from a hardware store or hobby shop and a number of hardware components to properly expel the compressed air into the paintball tank. The compressed air of your air compressor fill station is not dangerous, so it can be used by young adults or children under adult supervision.

Things You'll Need

  • Newspaper
  • Air compression tank
  • 1/2-inch-diameter tire valve assembly
  • Silicone paste
  • Bonding glue
  • Air compression gauge
  • Tire valve to paintball tank valve adapter
  • Paintball tank

Instructions

    • 1

Place a sheet of newspaper on a table. Stand the air compression tank on the newspaper. Apply bonding glue around the outside rim of the hose attached to the air compression tank.

    • 2

Hold the tire valve assembly with the hole in the center facing up. Place the open end at the left side of the tire valve assembly over the air compression tank’s hose. Let the bonding glue set for three hours.

    • 3

Apply bonding glue around the end of the tire valve assembly where it meets the air compression tank’s hose. Let the bonding glue set for a day.

    • 4

Apply bonding glue around the nozzle at the end of the tire valve to the paintball tank valve adapter. Place the nozzle of the tire valve to paintball tank valve adapter onto the nipple at the end of the tire valve assembly. Let the bonding glue set for three hours.

    • 5

Apply bonding glue around the end of the nozzle where it meets the tire valve assembly. Let the bonding glue set for a day. Apply silicone paste around the end of the nozzle where it meets the tire valve assembly. Let the silicone paste set for an hour.

    • 6

Apply silicone paste around the end of the tire valve assembly where it meets the air compression tank’s hose. Let the silicone paste set for an hour.

    • 7

Apply bonding glue around the bottom of the air compression gauge. Place the air compression gauge into the hole in the center of the tire valve assembly. Let the bonding glue set for three hours.

    • 8

Apply bonding glue around the hole were it meets the air compression gauge. Let the boding glue set for a day.

    • 9

Apply silicone paste around the hole were it meets the air compression gauge. Let the silicone paste set for an hour.

    • 10

Turn the valve on the air compression tank a few turns clockwise. Listen for the sound of escaping gas.

    • 11

Turn the valve on the air compression tank counterclockwise to turn off the gas. Apply silicone paste around any area of the air compressor fill station you have made where gas is leaking. Let the silicone paste set for an hour.

    • 12

Place the nipple of the paintball tank against the nozzle at the end of the tire valve to the paintball tank valve adapter. Turn the valve on the air compression tank a few turns clockwise. Note the pressure of the compressed gas on the air compression gauge.

    • 13

Push the nipple against the nozzle to fill the paintball tank gauge. Remove the paintball tank and turn off the gas when the tank is filled.

Tips & Warnings

  • Overfilling a paintball tank can weaken the nipple and cause air to escape while it is powering the paintball gun.
