How to Make NetZero Email Work With Thunderbird

NetZero, an LA-based Internet service provider (ISP), offers a built in webmail service for its users and subscribers. Thunderbird is the open source, cross-platform email application designed and developed by Mozilla (creator of the Firefox web browser). Thunderbird, first released in 2004, received one million downloads in ten days. If you want to use your NetZero email account with Mozilla Thunderbird, you have to be using the "Platinum" or "HiSpeed 3G" NetZero accounts.

      Open Mozilla Thunderbird.

      Click "Tools" then "Account Settings."

      Click "Email account" then click "Next."

      Enter your name and email address, then click "Next."

      Click "POP" then type "pop.netzero.com" as the pop server address. Click "Next."

      Enter your email address for both "Incoming" and "Outgoing" user names, then click "Next."

      Title your account, then click "Next" and "Finish."

      Click the "+" next to your email address to expand account settings for your email account.

      Change the "Port" to "110" if it isn't set there already.

      Click "Outgoing Server (SMTP)" and change the server address to "authsmtp.netzero.com" if it isn't there already.

      Change the "Outgoing Mail" port to "587" and click "OK" to save settings and setup your NetZero email account with Mozilla Thunderbird.
