How to Train for CISA
For an auditor in the information technology realm, certified information systems auditor, or CISA, certification is necessary for career advancement. This certification offered by the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) has been around since 1978 and is used around the world. Passing the CISA exam gives you professional credibility in the information technology industry. The exam is notoriously difficult, but the ISACA provides study materials for you to access. Using these provided study guides as well as outside informational sources will give you the best chance to pass the exam.

Sign up for the CISA online review course. Since the ISACA offers this class, it will have the most up-to-date information on what will be on the exam. It contains six modules, and you can choose which ones you study or review them all. As of 2010, each individual module costs $135, or you can access all six for $600.

Purchase the latest "CISA Review Manual." The ISACA prints a new version of the book every year which contains study materials and practice questions. As of 2010, you can buy the study guide from the ISACA website for $130.

Review the ISACA study materials. You can buy practice tests and extra study materials on the ISACA website. This includes a CD-ROM of review questions for $225 and a question explanation supplement for $60, as of 2010.

Sign up for a class. While studying on your own is useful, an in-person classroom setting gives you a chance to ask questions and discuss problems you might be having. Check with your local ISACA chapter to find a review course in your area.

If you become a member of the ISACA, you can get a generous discount on the study materials for the CISA exam. Membership also gives you access to seminars and an e-library. The fee to join is $130 a year as of 2010.
