How to Put My Arisaka Rifle Sling on
The Arisaka series of rifles and carbines were used by the Japanese Imperial Army from 1906 to 1945. The rifles are named after Col. Nariakira Arisaka, the man who was placed in charge of a commission in the 1890s that was responsible for finding a replacement rifle for the military. The series consists of five variants. The designations of the variants of the Type 30, Type 38 and the Type 44 came from the specific year of Emperor Meiji's reign that the model was designed in. (For example, Type 30 was designed in Emperor Meiji's 30th year of reign.) The Type 97 and Type 99 were designated by the the last two digits of the year of their release according to the Japanese calender. The slings for these rifles remained relatively constant and could be interchanged between the various models.

1
Lay the rifle down on its side with the sling loops facing upward.
-
2
Attach the front side of the sling first. The front of the sling can be identified by the brass button that holds the end together. If the end is closed, grasp the tip of the sling and pull downward while twisting to the left or the right. This will allow you to unbutton the sling end. Once the loop is opened, insert the end through the sling loop and fasten it so the end is on the outside of the sling.

3
Attach the rear end of the sling. The rear end of the sling works much like the average leather belt. Insert the tip of the sling into the rear sling loop and pull it through until you can comfortably sling the rifle over your shoulder. Once you find a comfortable length, insert the tip into the two belt loops in the sling and buckle the end to secure it in place.
