Things You'll Need
- Carpet shampoo or stain remover
- Utility knife
- Pry bar
- Vacuum
- Cleaning supplies (as needed)

Clean the carpet tiles. Many carpet tiles can be easily cleaned with a spot remover or carpet shampoo. Follow the directions as indicated on the carpet shampoo.

Remove heavily stained or damaged carpet tiles, using a utility knife and pry bar.

Vacuum the subfloor. It must be clean so that the new carpet tile will stick once installed.

Remove the paper from the back of a carpet tile and place the tile on the floor. Once in place, press the carpet tile down so that it has a chance to stick to the floor.

Tips & Warnings
Have extra carpet titles on hand. This will make replacing a stained or damaged carpet tile much easier. If you do not have an extra tile, try to match the carpet tile as best as possible by locating the manufacturer and ordering a few of the same tiles.
