1
Dig a hole for the grill, using a shovel. The hole must be large enough to fit the entire tire rim. The rim will act as the wall of the grill and the metal will give added protection from a potential fire hazard.
-
2
Insert the tire rim into the hole and push the loose soil around it, packing it down with your hands. Dampen the soil on the inside of the rim with a garden hose and press the soil down firmly to create even ground.

-
3
Lay down large stones or bricks around the tire rim.
-
4
Pour ready-light charcoal into your new permanent outdoor grill and light with a match.
-
5
Place the cooking rack on top of the grill once the flames have died down and the charcoal has turned into hot coals and have turned a grayish color. The grill rack should be at least 2 inches larger than the tire rim so it rests securely on top.
