How to Make Flyers for a Cleaning Business

How to Make Flyers for a Cleaning Business thumbnail
Your fliers should include an image such as a sparkling clean room.

Fliers are a popular way to grab customers' attention. In the crowded cleaning industry, standing out from the competition can mean thousands of dollars more to your bottom line. Glossy, professional-looking fliers with images of your cleaning service can provide big returns at minimal cost, but it does take time and effort.

You can be creative with this process and showcase your cleaning skills. Fliers present an easy, creative and economical way to highlight your attention to detail. It's also an effective way to reach the best neighborhoods in your city.

Instructions

    • 1

Create an image of cleanliness. When customers see inexpensive fliers printed on cheap paper, they think of your business as cheap or unprofessional--even untidy. That's something a cleaning business can ill afford. Use something crisp as well as catchy, such as an image of a worker in a clean uniform vacuuming the cleanest house the customer has ever seen.

Decide on your cleaning logo or phrase (such as "We do ... so you don't have to"). Add the name of your business, address, phone numbers, email address or website, hours of operation and contact person.

Use a cleaning business template (see Resources) to design your flier, recommends Herman Holtz, author of "Great Promo Pieces." Include a coupon offering a free cleaning after the first five, with an extended expiration date.

Because people are inclined to clean their homes or offices themselves, be specific in stating how your company's services make life easier. For example, you can tell them that you clean hardwood floors, kitchen cabinets or the walls in a room.

Use a professional-looking font. For a cleaning business, choose a font that has clean, straight lines. If you want to use cursive fonts, use them sparingly, such as in photo captions. A font such as Arial, Times New Roman or Georgia will give a crisp, professional look to your fliers.

Hire a printer and have your fliers professionally printed. It's part of the crisp, clean image you must convey. A professional printer can transfer your computer files and print them out on glossy, professional-looking paper. Your fliers need to portray an image of cleanliness so that when a potential customer picks yours out of the stack of mail, it's the glossiest, most professional and most enticing.

Hire a professional photographer to capture a crystal-clear image of cleanliness. Your fliers must above all symbolize "clean," states Beth Morrow, author of "How to Open and Operate a Financially Successful Cleaning Service." Something such as a professional photo of a worker in a clean room conveys "clean."
