How to Increase Internet Speed in PC
The Internet speed performance of a PC operating system can be affected due to various reasons. Commonly, files are stored in your computer's hard drive when you visit a website and over time these stored files pile up and slow down your Internet speed. Adware and spyware in your PC are also reasons for poor Internet speed, which consequently cripples your computer's overall performance. Increase Internet Speed by Using Adware, Spyware or Antivirus Protection Software

Click on your adware, spyware or anti-virus protection software to open the interface window. Click on the "Computer Scanner" option usually located under the "Tools" menu located on the top of the software's interface window. Click on the "Run Scan," "Scan" or "Scan Computer" option---this varies depending on the software you are using---and let the software look for any potential threats that might be slowing down your Internet speed. Perform this step as frequently as needed.

Get free adware, spyware or anti-virus protection software if you don't already have it. Software like AVG Anti-Virus Free is reputable and will keep your protected.

Visit the AVG Anti-Virus Free download website (see Resources, below) and click on the "Download Now" tab located on the left side of your screen, on the dark-blue region of the box. Click on the green "Download Now" tab and follow the prompts to finish the downloading and installation process. Perform "Step 1" once your software is installed.
Increase Internet Speed by Deleting Old Internet Files and Cookies

Set a schedule to delete old Internet files. For instance, you may want to perform this task on a weekly basis. This will mainly keep your PC from getting bogged down with a large amount of files to scan through.

Open your Internet browser. Internet Explorer users click on the "Tools" option on the upper right side of the window, select "Internet Options" on the drop-down menu, and click the "Delete Cookies" tab. Firefox users click on the "Tools" option on the upper left side of the window, select the "Options" link on the drop-down menu, select the "Privacy" tab with a mask icon located on top of the pop-up box and click on the "Show Cookies" tab on the mid right side of the pop-up box. Click on the "Remove All Cookies" tab. This will remove all the cookies your PC has stored from all the websites you have visited.

Delete your PC's history. This task will eliminate all Internet addresses you have visited that are stored on your history's library folder. Internet Explorer users click on the icon with a small star located on the upper left side of the screen and select the "History" tab. Click on the Internet files that you want to delete from your history by right-clicking your mouse and selecting the "Delete" option. Firefox users click on the "History" link situated on the upper left side of the window, then click on the "Show All History" option from the drop-down menu. Select the files or foldesr you want to delete by clicking on them and then right-click on your mouse and click on "Delete" to remove the Internet files from your history.
