How to Transfer Money Internationally Through a Mobile
If you need to transfer some money to a business or individual located overseas and only have your cell phone with you, the money transfer can be done on your mobile phone. While more options for transferring money internationally exist if you have a smart phone, such as an iPhone or BlackBerry, you do not need a smart phone. In fact, if you have an older mobile phone, you can still use the phone to do an international money transfer.

1
Download the PayPal app for your iPhone, BlackBerry or Android smart phone from the PayPal website (see Resources). Use the app to transfer money internationally via your PayPal account. If you don't have an account you can sign up for one at no cost. The recipient also can sign up for a free account when the money arrives. Western Union and MoneyGram both have an iPhone app, but you can only locate an office with it and cannot send any money with the app.

Use the web browser on your mobile phone to access a money transfer website to send money internationally. You can do this on the MoneyGram, PayPal and Western Union websites (see Resources). Just open the web address on your browser and select that you want to send money and how you want it to be sent. You can choose to send it to an agent location, to a bank account or to the recipient's address. You will need a credit card or debit card to send the money immediately. For the "Direct to Bank" online transfer option that Western Union offers, you will need your bank account details.

Transfer money by SMS text message with PayPal or Perfect Money (see References and Resources). You can sign up for either service if you do not already have an account. Just text the mobile number or email address of the recipient to transfer the money internationally. For example, with PayPal you text to PayPal at 729725 and then make your text message "send $5.99 to phone number/email address" and just enter in your own dollar amount and the email address or phone number to send it to. When you sign up for the SMS money transfer account, you will be given complete directions for the commands you need to send money. If the recipient doesn't have an account, instructions on how to get the money will be included from PayPal or Perfect Money.
