How to Prevent Acne Nodules
There are varying degrees of acne. One person may experience small bumps, whereas another person may develop more serious lesions known as nodules. Acne nodules are often painful and result in scarring once the nodule heals. While acne is common, there are ways to prevent skin blemishes and reduce your chances of developing unsightly nodules.

1
Wash your face twice a day. Cleanse your face in the mornings and in the evenings to remove impurities that clog pores and bring on acne lesions. Remove make-up nightly and keep hands off your face.
-
2
Keep oily hair away from your face. Chemicals from hair products can seep into pores and create acne nodules on the forehead and face. Limit the use of hair gels and sprays to reduce oiliness, and pull back hair when exercising.

3
Fight the urge to pick blemishes. Keep hands away from pimples and zits to avoid complications. Popping or picking at small acne bumps can bring on large lesions and scarring.
-
4
Apply oil-free products. Only use oil-free facial lotions, cleansers and make-up to keep pores unclogged and prevent acne nodules.
-
5
Regularly apply astringents and acne-fighting creams. If you're prone to acne bumps or nodules, develop a facial routine and use acne medication daily (either over-the-counter or prescribed) to ward off unsightly lesions.

Tips & Warnings
Once a nodule develops, treatment involves a course of antibiotics. Alternatively, a dermatologist may drain the fluid inside the lesion.
