How to Replace the Dust Filter in a Honda Pilot

How to Replace the Dust Filter in a Honda Pilot thumbnail
Dusty driving conditions shorten the life of the filter.

Every model year of the Honda Pilot is equipped with a dust and pollen filter that keeps the air in the passenger cabin clean and free of allergens. This filter is commonly referred to as a cabin air filter. Honda recommends replacing the cabin filter on the Pilot once a year or every 10,000 miles. If the Pilot is driven on dusty roads frequently, or in other extreme conditions such as heavy traffic, the filter will become dirty more quickly. A clean cabin filter increases the air flow throughout the ventilation system and is effective at trapping allergens to keep them from entering the passenger area.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the glove box. Empty all contents from the glove box.

    • 2

Unhook the stop bar on the right side of the glove box.

    • 3

Press in on both sides of the glove box to unhook it from the dash. Pivot the glove box toward the floor of the Pilot.

    • 4

Pull the filter frame toward the rear of the vehicle to remove it.

    • 5

Take the old filter out of the filter frame.

    • 6

Insert the new cabin air filter into the filter frame. Press around the edges of the filter so the tabs on the filter frame go over the filter material.

    • 7

Slide the filter frame into the filter compartment as far as it will go.

    • 8

Lift the glove box up to a normal open position. Hook the stop bar back into place.
