How to Scan a Website for a Trojan

Avoid getting infected with Trojans by avoiding malicious websites.

In order to scan websites for Trojans and other threats, you must download and install an antivirus program that has an Internet browser guard. Norton Antivirus 360 has a feature that automatically checks websites in search results (excluding rarely visited sites) for threats. AVG Antivirus (including the free edition) has a similar function. If a threat is detected on the Web page, it is automatically blocked. Any reputable Internet security suite has this feature.

Norton Antivirus 360

1. Purchase and download Norton Antivirus 360. The browser guard for this program is automatically enabled after installation.

2. Install the program on your computer. If you already have an antivirus program installed, there may be conflicts--you may want to remove your existing Internet security suite before installing. Reboot your computer after installation.

3. Check to see if the browser guard is working. An easy way to check is to open your Web browser and perform a search on Google to see if there are icons next to the search results. Safe websites have a green icon next to the results.

PC Tools Internet Security

1. Purchase and download PC Tools Internet Security. The browser guard for this program is automatically enabled after installation.
