How to Compare Home Candle Businesses
Nowadays many are turning to home based businesses to either make a living or supplement their current income. But how do you know a particular home based candle business is the right one for you? There are many ways to compare the different companies, which offer the opportunity to work from home, setting your own schedule and still make a decent living.
Make sure when comparing the different companies that you visit their website and create a chart to keep track of the different items you want to compare. Once done, decide which items are more important to your needs and decide which company offers the best options for you.

1
Decide how much you want to make. Each home based candle business offers a different commission rate, but most range between 20 and 40 percent. Many offer bonuses after selling a certain amount of product. To help determine how much money you want to make, you will also need to determine if the product line a company is offering will sell. Even if you are earning 40 percent commission, if the product in the catalog is not selling, then it is not worth working for that company.

2
Find out if there is a need to have inventory. The benefit of operating a home based candle selling business is the benefit of not having to run a store. Some companies require you have inventory stocked in your home, or office, and sell to customers directly. Others offer catalogs and the only inventory you have to have is the samples you want to have. If there is not enough funds to have plenty of inventory, your sales could suffer if you do not have the product your customers may want.

Check with the Direct Selling Association. Make sure the companies you are looking into are members of the Direct Selling Association (DSA). This is an organization which makes sure each company is reputable and follows strict home based business guidelines. There are also reviews and information about starting your own home based business on their website.

Sell what you love. If you love a certain company's candles and accessories, sell them. Selling is from the heart and it helps if the salesperson truly loves the product they are selling. If you do not like the items you have to sell, the customers will see it and be less likely to purchase from you.
Many companies also offer consultants discounts of their product and it is a great perk, especially if you love the items you are selling.

5
Have enough start up money. Some home based candle sales companies offer no start up fees with certain requirements, such as hosting a starter show. If the show is a certain dollar amount in sales, everything needed to start up the business is free. This is one of the better ways to get started.
Other companies offer start-up packages for a small fee that can be anywhere from $25 to $150 (sometimes more) depending on what is needed to get the business started.
