MasterCook stores content in the XML file format, though you can import any type of file, including standard text files. If you want to take a regular text file and convert it to MasterCook's XML format, you just need to save it as your new file type.

Open MasterCook from its desktop shortcut icon.

Click "File>Open." Use this new window to open your text file. You will see the contents of your text file on your screen.

Click "File>Save As."

Select "XML" from the "File Type" menu. Type in a name for your soon-to-be-created XML recipe file and click "Save." This will convert your regular text file to MasterCook's XML file format.
