How to Get Data Back for NTFS
The NTFS file system is used by Windows 7, Vista, XP and 2000 -- every version newer than Windows 98 and Windows ME. Files deleted from Windows NTFS file systems and other file systems aren't actually immediately deleted. Instead, the pointers to the files are deleted and the space occupied by their data is marked as writable. If your computer hasn't written to its hard drive much since the file deletion, the data is still there. Get data back from an NTFS file system using a third party program.

Download Piriform Recuva (see Resources) and install it by following the instructions on your screen. Click "Next" in the "Welcome to the Recuva Wizard" window, click a type of data for recovery in the "File Type" window, click "Next," click the location the files were deleted from in the "File Location" window, click "Next" and click "Start." Recover a file by clicking the checkbox next to it in the Recuva list, clicking "Recover," clicking a destination folder for the file and clicking "OK."

Install NTFS Undelete (see Resources.) Search for deleted files by clicking the checkmark to the left of your NTFS hard drive under the "Browse" tab in the "NTFS Undelete" window. Recover deleted files by clicking the checkboxes next to them in the "Browse" list under your hard drive, clicking the "Recover Marked Files" tab, clicking "Recover," selecting a destination folder and clicking "OK."

Use DiskInternals Uneraser (see Resources.) Click "Launch Trial Version" after installing it, then scan a hard drive or folder for deleted files by double-clicking it in the "DiskInternals Uneraser" window. Browse to the location of a deleted file by double-clicking the folders in Uneraser's file browse window, click it and click "Recover" on the toolbar. Save the files by clicking "Save Files" in the "Export Wizard" window, clicking "Browse," clicking a destination folder, clicking "OK" and clicking "Next."
