How to Make Book Markers Using Scrapbooking
Scrapbooking skills and supplies do not have to end with photos and newspaper clippings. You can make useful items with scrapbooking supplies, including bookmarks. Make your own custom bookmarks with scrapbook paper and decorative scrapbooking stamps. Make a single bookmark for the book you are currently reading, or a whole set for several books or to give as gifts.
Things You'll Need
- Scrapbook paper
- Cutting board or cardboard
- Ruler
- Utility knife
- Hole punch
- Ribbon
- Rubber scrapbook stamps
- Ink pad
Instructions
-
-
1
Lay your scrapbook paper over a cutting board or a piece of cardboard to protect your desk or table from scratching.
-
2
Measure and draw a rectangle the size you want your bookmark to be. For smaller, paperback books, a 6- by 1-inch rectangle is an adequate size.
-
-
3
Hold your ruler firmly along each line, one at a time and cut along the lines with a utility knife.
-
4
Punch a hole at one of the shorter ends centered across the short edge, but about 1/4 inch away from the edge.
-
5
Cut your ribbon into a 6-inch strand with your scissors and thread it halfway through the punched hole in the bookmark. Tie ends of the ribbon together in a knot close to the bookmark.
-
6
Dip a decorative rubber stamp into an ink pad and press it onto your bookmark. Choose stamps that fit your personality or the types of books you read. There are many types of stamps available at craft stores and specialty scrapbook supply stores.
