How to Check & Fix HD Errors Online
Your computer's hard drive may run into a variety of different problems, ranging from viruses to corrupt sectors on the hard drive to unused files scattered throughout the drive. Whatever issue you have occurring on the computer, it is possible to fix the problems with online programs.

Open your Internet browser, and download and install an anti-virus program such as "ThreatFire AntiVirus Free Edition," "Panda Cloud Antivirus Free Edition" or "AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition" (see Resources). Launch the program, then choose the "Scan" feature. The program now scans the hard drive for any issues and viruses running on the computer. Select all of the detected viruses, then click "Remove" to delete the viruses from the computer.

Download and install a defrag program such as "Diskeeper," "Auslogics Disk Defrag" or "Auslogics Registry Defrag" (see Resources). Launch the software then click "Defrag" option. A defrag software rearranges the hard drive and places all of the open memory together. This increases the speed of the hard drive. The entire defrag process takes several hours to complete.

Download and install a corrupt file fixer program such as "Glary Utilities," "Advanced SystemCare Free" or "VirtualLab Data Recovery" (see Resources). Launch the program; then choose the recovery feature. Scan the hard drive for files available to recover; then click the files you want to restore and click "Restore."
