How to Hide a Personal Safe

How to Hide a Personal Safe thumbnail
You can use a hair spray can as an unobtrusive personal safe.

No one wants his valuable possessions to be discovered by an intruder when he is not home. You can build a personal safe that will hide your jewelry and other small valuables by disguising them as an unobtrusive product in the bathroom. This will make it less likely to attract attention. You will need a few supplies and tools that are commonly found around the house. Adult supervision is suggested if the person making the secret personal safe is a young child.

Instructions

    • 1

Spray the aerosol spray outside to empty it. Put a sheet of newspaper on a table. Place the jaws of a can opener on the bottom of the aerosol spray can. Turn the lever on the can opener to cut off the bottom of the can. Place the cut-off bottom of the can aside.

    • 2

Remove the nozzle straw from inside the aerosol spray can with your fingers. Dispose of the nozzle straw in the trash.

    • 3

Wipe out the inside of the aerosol spray can with a piece of paper towel. Dispose of the paper towel in the trash.

    • 4

Unscrew the lid from the plastic vial. Place the lid on the newspaper.

    • 5

Apply hot glue to one side of the cut-off bottom of the aerosol spray can. Place the side of the cut off bottom that has the hot glue on it on top of the lid of the plastic vial. Let the hot glue set for five minutes.

    • 6

Stuff a piece of paper towel into the open end of the aerosol spray can. Push the paper towel all the way into the aerosol spray can.

    • 7

Place a piece of paper towel on the newspaper. Make a bead of hot glue around the side of the plastic vial at about its middle. Place the plastic vial on the paper towel so that the open mouth of the plastic vial is facing the right. Wrap the paper towel around the plastic vial. Let the hot glue set for two minutes.

    • 8

Push the plastic vial, open mouth out, into the open end of the aerosol spray can. Apply hot glue around the sides of the plastic vial where it touches the inside of the aerosol spray can. Let the hot glue set for two minutes.

    • 9

Insert jewelry and any small valuables you want into the plastic vial. Screw the lid back on the plastic vial. Stand the aerosol spray can on the bathroom counter. Your personal safe will now hide the valuables from any intruder who might break into your home.
