    • 2

Remove the axle end-caps, if any. Pry them off with a large screwdriver.

    • 3

Remove the connector that holds the tire in place on the axle. This may a cotter pin, a nut or some other locking mechanism. You may have to do this to both sides before the axle drops free.

    • 4

Take the axle and wheel to a hardware store or other place that sells spare tires. Carefully examine any replacement tire to ensure that it will fit properly on the wheelbarrow.

    • 5

Slide the new tire onto the axle and then properly place it into the fork. While holding it in place, replace the cotter pins or other locking devices and ensure they are snug.

    • 6

      Replace the axle end-caps.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you have an inflatable tire and would only like to replace the inner tube, most lawn-mower service shops will do the job for you. The equipment in a normal auto service station is too large for the small tire.

  • Use the rubber mallet, if necessary, to force the end-caps onto the axle.

  • Replacing the original tire with one too small or large may unbalance the wheelbarrow and make it unstable.
