Many Jeep owners choose to upgrade their generic car speakers to better quality products.

Many Jeep drivers choose to pass the time during their daily commute by listening to music. The speakers provided by the manufacturer, however, are oftentimes of poor quality. For the drivers who are serious about their musical experience while driving, many speaker upgrade options exist.

  • 7mm open-end wrench
  • Screwdriver
  • Torx T-25 bit

Instructions

  1. Dash Speakers

    • 1

      Pry the dash trim panel in an upward motion at either end with the trim removal tool. Once loose enough, use your fingers to lift and remove the trim panel. Removal will be easy since there are no parts or wires securing the trim panel to the car.

      Use the 7mm open-end wrench to remove the two #2 Phillips screws with 7mm hex heads that secure the tweeters in place. Remove the old tweeters and set aside.

      Secure the new tweeters in the location where the old tweeters were. Replace the dash trim panel when finished.

    Front Door Speakers

      Remove the 3 door panel screws using both the Phillips head screwdriver and the Torx T-25 bit.

      Detach each of the 10 plastic trim panel fasteners with the trim removal tool. Lift the panel upward and out to separate it from the door.

      Remove both of the metal actuator rods. These are secured with yellow snap-on plastic retainer clips that need to be pried away from the side of the metal rod. Unhook the wiring connector ends by pushing the tabs in that hold them in place.

      Unscrew and remove the speaker with the Phillips head screwdriver. Place the new speaker in and attach to the door.

      Reattach all parts to door. Repeat on opposite door.

    Rear Door Speakers

      Remove the 2 door panel screws with the Phillips head screwdriver and the Torx T-25 bit.

      Use the trim removal tool to detach the 10 plastic trim panel fasteners. Lift the door panel upward and out to separate it from the door.

      Remove both of the metal actuator rods, secured with yellow snap-on plastic retainer clips. Unhook the wiring connectors.

      Remove and unscrew the speaker using the Phillips head screwdriver. Insert and screw in the new speaker.

      Reattach all the parts and repeat on the opposite side.

Tips & Warnings

  • Dash speakers are two, 2.5 inch tweeters.

  • Front door speakers are 6 inches by 9 inches (standard) / 6 inches by 9 inches woofer (Infinity).

  • Rear door speakers are 6.5 inches round full-range.

  • Do not install speakers that are the incorrect size.
