How to Make Lather

Create a lather with shaving soap for a smooth shaving experience.

Shaving lather protects the skin from irritation from the razor. The thick texture of lather is produced from shaving soap. Making the proper consistency of lather can become frustrating, but if you stir the soap properly you will produce a lather that will keep your skin feeling smooth. Once you learn to make a proper lather using items that you have around your bathroom, you will no longer have to worry about the lather dripping down your face due to thin consistency.

Things You'll Need

• Cup
• Warm water
• Shaving brush
• Shaving soap
• Razor

Instructions

1. Fill a cup with warm water. Soak the shaving brush in warm water.

2. Remove the shaving brush and shake it to remove any excess water.

3. Move the shaving brush around in the soap in a circular motion. The bristles will begin to stir the soap and a thick lather will begin to form.

4. Apply the lather to one side of your face. Use the brush to stir the shaving soap again to create more lather.

5. Soak the brush in water when the lather does not thicken as well. Continue to move the shaving brush around the shaving soap to create lather. Apply it to your face with the brush, and shave as usual.

Tips & Warnings

• Wet your face with hot water to open your pores for a closer shave.
