It is immoral and illegal to siphon gas out of anyone's tank without their prior knowledge. When you siphon this way, it constitutes theft. However, if you are ever in a situation such as needing to siphon gas from your lawnmower to your car, or vice-versa, then this guide is for you. All you need is a piece of hose or tubing and two containers: one for siphoning, another to collect the liquid.

Instructions

  1. Instructions

    • 1

Loop a long piece of hose from the ground to the opening of the gas tank opening back above the gas tank.

    • 2

Position a gas can somewhere nearby that you can quickly reach.

    • 3

Insert one end of the tube in the tank. Make sure the dry end of the tube is higher than the gas source.

    • 4

Suck in a small amount of gas from the hose. Be careful not to swallow or ingest the gasoline.

    • 5

Maintain suction on the hose and crimp the hose or slip your thumb over the end. This prevents air from entering the hose.

    • 6

Drop the end of the hose into the bucket, release the crimp, and begin to collect as much gas as you can.

Tips & Warnings

  • Stand on a chair if you can't get high enough above the gas-tank opening.

  • To avoid bubbles, keep the hose flat or running up towards your mouth.

  • Do not ingest the gasoline. It is illegal to siphon gas from other people's vehicles or equipment without their expressed consent.
