How to Delete the Recycling Bin

The Recycle Bin stores all deleted files and folders. The deleted files stay here until you empty out the bin. The Recycling Bin cannot be removed from your computer, but you can delete the icon that appears on the desktop. You can also change the settings for the Recycle Bin, but the program is an integral part of the operating system. To delete the Recycle Bin icon from the desktop takes only a few steps.

Instructions

1. Click "Start."

2. Click "Control Panel."

3. Click "Appearance and Personalization" in Vista and Windows 7.

4. Click "Personalization."

5. Click "Change desktop icons."

6. Uncheck the "Recycle Bin" check box.

7. Click "OK." The Recycle Bin icon is now gone from the desktop.
