- 1 mm or 2 mm cord material (hemp, nylon, cotton)
- Scissors
- Measuring tape

Cut a strand of your cord material, measuring 70 inches long. Cut seven additional strands for 1 mm cord material, each measuring 60 inches long. Cut three additional strands for 2 mm, each measuring 60 inches long. Treat the ends of the material in order to prevent unravelling.

Locate the center points for your cords and secure these by pinning them to the board to make them vertical. Place the 70-inch cord on your the far right or left, since it will serve as your working cord. Use half of the cord to tie just enough vertical larks head knots in order to create a ½-inch sennit. Tie your knots onto your other strands that work together in order to form your core. Begin from the center, while moving toward its ends.
