How to Set the Camera for Best Quality Video on a Canon PowerShot S5 IS

The Canon PowerShot S5 IS camera not only takes 8 megapixel images, but it will also shoot video at the press of a button. The camera is set by default to shoot video at 320 by 240 at a 30 frames per second speed. With a simple adjustment, you can create better videos by changing the movie mode pixels to a higher resolution. This will give you the best quality video shots possible on the PowerShot S5 IS.

Instructions

1. Press the "Func" button on the back of the camera. The function menu will appear on the LCD screen.

2. Press the down arrow until the current movie mode settings appear on the screen.

3. Press the right arrow button until the "640 by 480 30 fps" setting appears on the screen.

4. Press the "Func" button a second time to save the changes.

5. Press the "Movie" button on the camera to begin recording video.

Tips & Warnings

• The Canon PowerShot S5 IS is limited to 4 gigabytes of record time per clip.

• Movie recording on the Canon will stop after 1 hour automatically even if the 4GB size has not been reached.
