How to Clean Up a Windows Virus
Windows computers are particularly prone to viruses, spyware, adware and other types of unwanted and malicious software. To help combat this, Microsoft has continually provided low-cost or free antivirus and antispyware applications as an extra download or baked into the operating system. These applications will help you clean up the virus and the mess it left behind.

1
Open Microsoft Security Essentials. Depending on the version of Windows you are running, it may not be pre-installed and you may have to download the application (see Resources).
-
2
Select the type of scan you want to run. You have the option of running a "full" scan, which will scan the entire hard drive, or a "quick" scan, which will scan the typical virus hiding spots. The full scan is significantly longer than the quick scan, but the quick scan may not find a particularly elusive virus.

3
Click "Scan Now" after selecting the scan type. The program will check for viruses on your Windows computer.

4
Select "Remove All" to clean up the viruses, removing them from your computer and restoring your computer to working order.
