How to Transfer a Dodge Warranty

The Dodge bumper-to-bumper warranty can be transferred to a new owner as can the extended warranty contracts offered by Chrysler. The Dodge power train warranty, however, cannot be transferred to a new vehicle owner. There is no charge for extending the original bumper-to-bumper warranty of a Dodge vehicle as this warranty is good for the first three years or 36,000 miles regardless of who owns the vehicle. There is both a charge and a time limit, however, for transferring Chrysler extended warranties. Chrysler recommends seeing a dealer to transfer the extended warranty coverage, but you can make the transfer yourself.

Instructions

    • 1

Pay off anything that is owed on the extended warranty. Warranties that are being financed cannot be transferred until they have been paid.

    • 2

Complete the warranty transfer information located on your Plan Provision documents. If you do not have a copy of your Plan Provision, you can print a transfer form from the "My Plan" page of the Chrysler warranty website (see Resources).

    • 3

Write a check or obtain a money order payable to Chrysler LLC for the amount of the warranty transfer fee. In most states, this fee is $50, but you should check with your specific Plan Provision or Chrysler dealer to verify the fee for your state.

    • 4

Ask the original warranty plan purchaser to sign the completed transfer form. Transfers will not be completed without the signature of the person who originally purchased the warranty.

    • 5

Send the check and transfer form to Chrysler within 60 days of the sale of the vehicle. Forms should be sent to:

      Chrysler Service Contracts

      Transfer Department

      P.O. Box 2700

      Troy, MI 48007-2700

Tips & Warnings

  • Chrysler extended warranties can be transferred only one time.

  • Power train warranties must be transferred by a Chrysler dealer and cost $150 to transfer. These warranties must be transferred within 30 days instead of 60.
