Outlook Recurring Tasks are not Working

Outlook Recurring Tasks are not Working thumbnail
Repair Microsoft Outlook files when they are not working.

Recurring tasks in the Microsoft Outlook calendar and email program are tasks that repeat daily, weekly or monthly. While Outlook is supposed to save recurring tasks automatically, broken or corrupt files may prevent it from saving these recurring tasks. Broken files may also prevent Outlook from performing as required. If this is the case, you need to reset your Outlook files to repair the problem and then add your recurring tasks again.

Instructions

    • 1

Close your Outlook program, if it is open. Click on the "Start" menu in the bottom-left corner of your screen.

    • 2

Open the "Run" function. Write "outlook /cleanreminders" into the run function and hit Enter. Let the scan complete before continuing.

    • 3

Reopen the "Run" function once the previous scan has finished. Write "outlook /resetfolders" into the run function and press Enter. Let the second scan finish before continuing. It can take several minutes to scan your Outlook folders and repair the corrupt files.

    • 4

Restart your computer for the files and folder changes to take effect.

    • 5

Open your Outlook account and enter the calendar program.

    • 6

Click on the "Actions" button in the menu and choose the "Recurrence" option.

    • 7

Add your recurring tasks by selecting the frequency of recurrence (daily, weekly, monthly) and a description of what the task is, to remind you.

    • 8

Select whether the task should be repeated at intervals or on specific dates. Include a start date and an end date. Click "OK" to apply the task changes.
