How to Track a Child With a Cingular GPS
Cingular, which is also known as AT&T, offers an application for most of its phones called Family Map. It allows you to track your child's location from your personal computer or cell phone. Family Map allows parents to set up the child's schedule online and have alerts sent via email or text informing the parent when the child arrives at home or school.

Configure Family Map by adding phone numbers that you would like to track. You can only track phones that are on your plan. Many adults also include their numbers because Family Map has the ability to track lost and stolen phones. A notification text message will be sent to the number being tracked, so you may want to hold on to your child's phone until the text is received if you don't want your child to know you are tracking them.
