1994 Nissan Maxima Rear Speaker Installation
Installing a speaker in a 1994 Nissan Maxima requires removing the back seat to gain access to the rear shelf, covering the rear speakers. Installation of new speakers may be needed after a failure of the original speaker or if upgrading the stereo system with aftermarket parts. The process can be done by a novice mechanic and does not require any special automotive knowledge. The task can be completed in under an hour in most cases and does not require any special tools.

Remove the back seat. Remove the seat cushion first, pulling the clips away from the retainers and then pulling up on the cushion. Remove the two bolts at the bottom of the seat holding the seat in place and remove the seat.

Remove the rear roof trim panels. Use a small screwdriver or small pry bar to remove the panels from the car. Place the panels to the side and out of the way, complete removal of the panels is not necessary.

Remove the rear shelf. Using a small pry bar, slowly pry the shelf away away from the body.

Remove the speaker. Disconnect the electrical connection to the speaker and remove the four retaining screws. Remove the speaker from the Maxima.

Install the new speaker. Replace the four retaining screws and connect the electrical connection to the speaker.

Replace the rear shelf. Put the shelf in place and push the shelf toward the body, placing the plastic clips back into the retaining holes.

Replace the trim panels. Put the panels in place and push toward the body, placing the plastic clips back into the retaining holes.

Replace the back seat. Put the sear in place and install the two retaining bolts at the bottom of the seat. Place the cushion into place and push the clips back into the retaining holes.
